Radiography

Dental radiography is essential to a quality diagnosis. We are, however, mindful of your concerns and comfort. So we carefully evaluate your previous history of dental problems and with your input determine which, if any, radiographs are appropriate. You will be excited to know that we use digital radiography. Instead of using film, we place a small sensor in the mouth to receive the x-rays. Instantly, on the computer monitor in front of you, your x-ray image appears. Most importantly, the amount of radiation is cut over 80% from that used from a modern high speed film!

We also use a digital panoramic x-ray machine. When appropriate, instead of taking 16-24 individual shots for a full mouth series, this machine comfortably revolves around your head giving your dentist an even better image of your wisdom teeth (if you have them), and your entire jaw…and it only uses the same amount of radiation as in a single film.

OUR VIEW ON RADIOGRAPHY

radiographDENTAL RADIOGRAPHS are an essential part of the diagnostic process. They help improve diagnostic certainty by providing a unique view of your teeth's structure. Yet as revealing and helpful as the images can be, you'll be glad to know how conservative we are in their use.

Prior to taking a single radiograph, we always shield you with a lead-lined protective apron. And should you need several radiographs, we offer an important advantage not found in other practices: PANORAMIC RADIOGRAPHY

In one shot, Panoramic Radiography captures a full panoramic view of all of your teeth. This technique not only provides superior images for our use in diagnosis, but also dramatically reduces exposure levels - by up to 90 percent.

Plus, along with dramatically reduced exposure, this process also is a considerably more comfortable one for you to experience: rather than sitting through one prep and exposure for each tooth, you can simply do it once.

So you know become our patient, we have your best interest at heart - and we have an array of safeguards and diagnostic tools that minimize risk and maximize both your comfort and your peace of mind.
